During my MFA studies at Colorado State and for several years before and after, I worked primarily with the built landscape in etchings, lithographs, and mixed media paintings, strongly textured and heavily worked. I seek out my subjects from the world around me, though my images do not frequently resemble the places that sparked their creation. While I always work from a referent, an actual place or location, I allow exaggeration, memory, and imagination to inform each image. I am interested in the human landscape minus human presence and the resultant sense of disquietude that exists in the familiar. The use of small model houses began to develop in my lithographs.
